Setting Goals The Smart Way | Weekly Health Tip | Avicenna
Whether you are trying to lose weight or cut down on your smoking toward quitting, it is vital to do it the SMART way:

- For someone with obesity and sub optimal exercise level, SMART goal could be walking around the block every day for the next two weeks. For this person, the goal is specific (particular exercise performance). It is Action-oriented (the person has to do it, rather than depending on someone else to do it passively). It is realistic (not to expect to run a marathon in the first few phases), and It could be measured by marking if the task is done daily and how many days in the time frame period (2 weeks).
- For someone with alcohol dependence, SMART goal could be lowering the number of daily drinks by one drink (or beer) every week over the next month.
